Volunteering at Kaiser Permanente

We are looking for committed, caring, and compassionate volunteers with a passion for community service to join our health care teams.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Plan to commit to all program requirements
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (second language skills are a plus)
  • Participate in an interview
  • Successfully complete background investigation *SSN required
  • Drug screening required in some states for hospice volunteers
  • Successfully complete health screening
  • Successfully complete volunteer orientation and training

Program Requirements

Schedule:

You will have an agreed upon schedule.

Orientation:

At orientation we will go over important information about our volunteer program.
Attendance is mandatory.

Training:

Accepted volunteers will attend mandatory service specific training.

*** Please note that applying does not guarantee acceptance to the program. Acceptance is based on completing all screening requirements which includes an application, interview, background check, health screening, and training. The application is the first step. If you are selected to move forward, we will invite you to schedule an interview and discuss the next steps in the process.

Precautionary Measures

Kaiser Permanente encourages volunteers to stay up to date with COVID-19 and flu vaccinations to protect our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers who may be especially vulnerable.

*Masking guidelines and other precautionary measures may be implemented to help ensure a safe environment.

Hospice Volunteers

Serve terminally ill patients and their families in home environments or care facilities. Hospice volunteers provide caregiver relief, friendly visits, bereavement program support, office support and other services that help improve care at the end of life.

Medical Center Volunteers

Volunteers provide a variety of quality support services within the medical center (hospital) or medical office building (clinic) environments. Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact with members, visitors, and staff while supporting a world-class experience for all.
